Why it matters
Why torque matters on a loaded van
A wheel that isn't torqued to the right figure can work loose. A loaded van puts more strain through every wheel fixing than a car does, so the figure matters more, not less.
Too little torque and the wheel can loosen as the van flexes under load. Too much and you can stretch a stud or damage the wheel. The right figure, put on the right way, keeps the wheel clamped as it was designed to be.
Every van has its own figure, because bolt size and thread vary from model to model.

Torque settings, load ratings and stud pattern by van
Bolt torque, stud pattern, centre bore and load ratings for every van we fit, grouped by make. If your van shows no figure yet, call us on 0118 405 0166 and we'll confirm it before you fit.
Load check
Is a wheel rated for your van?
Your axle weights are on the manufacturer's plate, usually in the driver's door frame or under the bonnet. The last two lines are usually the maximum for the front axle (1) and the rear axle (2).
Enter both axle maximums to see the load rating your wheels need.
Enter an axle maximum between 500 and 4,000 kg. That covers every van and pickup we fit.
Each front wheel carries up to 0 kg. Each rear wheel carries up to 0 kg.
Your wheels need a load rating of at least 0 kg each.
Each wheel's share = its axle maximum ÷ 2. The rating you need is the larger of the two.
Rogue wheels are rated from 1,000 kg to 2,000 kg each, and once your van is set we only show you the ones rated for it. Planning to up-plate? Tell us when you order, so we can make sure the load rating on your wheels is enough. We check your axle ratings on every order anyway.
Torque questions
What is the wheel torque for a VW Transporter?
160 Nm on the T5 to T6.1 and the T7, and 140 Nm on the T2, T3 and T4.
What is the wheel torque for a Fiat Ducato, Citroen Relay or Peugeot Boxer?
180 Nm, on L1, L2, L3 and Maxi Heavy L4.
What is the wheel torque for a Ford Transit Custom?
200 Nm, on both the 2011 to 2023 van and the 2024 onwards van.
Why re-torque after 30 miles?
New wheels and fixings settle as they bed in. Checking after 30 miles catches any bolt that has lost its figure. It's your responsibility, and our structural warranty doesn't cover damage caused by bolts that weren't re-torqued.
Can I use an impact gun?
To spin a bolt in, yes. To tighten it, no. Always finish with a torque wrench.
Where is my van's figure?
On your pallet jobsheet or your fitting certificate, and in the table on this page.
Rather we fitted them?
We fit about ten sets a day at our Reading showroom, torqued, balanced and signed off.
